About
World Desk Daily is a one-page dashboard for people who want the world's clocks, the day's main stories and a quick look at markets in one place.
What you will find
- Clocks and a countdown. Your local time, the time in cities you choose, and a countdown to the next US general election. These run in your browser.
- A news briefing. A short list of stories on world news, conflicts and politics, economy and markets, and climate and disasters. Each story links to the page it came from.
- Markets. Charts of oil, currencies, gold and the S&P 500 drawn from public datasets, lists of the biggest recent highs and drops reported in the news, and a look at what happened after some past events. Next to each market there is a link to its live price on another site.
How it is made
- Story summaries are written with the help of an AI assistant from the pages they link to. They can contain mistakes. Stories marked "Headline only" rest on the headline alone. Always open the source before you rely on a story.
- The headlines and chart data are saved as files and shown with the date they were gathered. They are not a live feed, and the page says so when they are old.
- The charts use public data that usually ends a few days before today. Gold and the S&P 500 are monthly.
What it is not
- It is not a newsroom. We do not report first-hand. We summarize and link to other outlets.
- It is not a source of live prices. Live prices are on the sites we link to.
- It is not financial advice. Nothing here predicts prices or tells you what to buy or sell. See the disclaimer.
Advertising and tracking
There are no advertisements and no tracking on this site today. If that changes, this page and the privacy policy will say so first.
